VELFAC composite glazing

VELFAC composite windows and doors combine low maintenance external aluminium with natural internal timber. They’re renowned for their impressive durability, excellent insulation, and secure and sustainable design. VELFAC composite glazing is available on all VELFAC ranges: VELFAC 200, VELFAC Ribo, and VELFAC Classic. With styles ranging from modern through to traditional, there is a VELFAC option for every style of architecture.

VELFAC all-timber glazing

VELFAC all-timber windows feature frames, mullions and transoms made of FSC®-certified pine from responsibly managed forests. The wood is laminated and finger jointed to ensure a structurally shape-stable product and the best use of the raw timber. Where any wood is even partially exposed to the external surfaces a minimum of 90% heartwood is used. The thermal performance of VELFAC all-timber glazing is comparable to VELFAC composite glazing.

Because every VELFAC window is tailor made, shapes, sizes, configurations, and colours can be chosen to complement each property perfectly.

Design and Engineering

The innovative composite construction of VELFAC windows combines the strength and low maintenance of aluminium with the insulating properties and natural appeal of wood. VELFAC windows offer several fixed and opening options, letting you choose the ideal window based on its location, functional requirements, cleaning and maintenance, aesthetics or safety features.

Fixed Windows creates a clean, minimalist look with maximum daylight and large picture window size capability. Top-guided or top-hung windows provide the familiar open-out design with side-hung windows opening to the side and side-guided, moving along the frame for easy cleaning or fire escape. VELFAC Reversible Windows are ideal for upper floors and commercial buildings with a dual hinge mechanism and rotate fully for easy cleaning from inside. The smooth operation of these windows, combined with their minimalist design, adds functionality and elegance to your home.

VELFAC 200 – A design icon

VELFAC 200 is the original VELFAC window design, featuring narrow profiles that increase the inflow of light. Uniform sightlines give every unit an identical external appearance, whether fixed or opening.

The VELFAC 200 window – in detail

Composite frame

The signature VELFAC frame combines durable external aluminium with natural, welcoming internal timber. By placing the moving aluminium sash directly in front of the fixed timber frame the window delivers a ‘floating sash’ effect, further emphasised by the recessed weather seal. The slim frame maximises natural light while uniform sightlines deliver an identical external appearance for every window unit, irrespective of opening function, and manual or motorised operation.

VELFAC Ribo – Simple and traditional

VELFAC Ribo is a flush faced casement window with slim sightlines for an elegant look. Keep it simple with beautiful uninterrupted glass or add glazing bars to create a look that suits traditional British homes.

With a choice of composite frames that offer longevity and strong thermal performance, or timber-only frames that are often required for conservation areas, plus optional glazing bars, VELFAC Ribo is suited to both new-build homes and replacement window projects, especially where there is a requirement to retain a more traditional appearance.

Low maintenance design

Proven to withstand the most extreme weather conditions, the external aluminium frame will never need repainting for the lifetime of the installation.

Thermal performance

The construction of VELFAC composite and all-timber windows delivers strong thermal performance, with U-values for triple glazed units as low as 08.2 W/m²K for VELFAC 200, 0.8W/m²K for VELFAC Classic, and 0.77 W/m²K for VELFAC Ribo.

Sustainability

Sustainability is fundamental to the VELFAC design philosophy. All materials used are responsibly sourced, wood treatments are water-based, and every window unit is 93% re-usable.

Security

VELFAC windows are Secured by Design approved and offer a range of security features including internal glazing beads (to prevent the external removal of glass panes), and multi-point locking systems. The external aluminium frame of VELFAC composite windows is also highly resistant to forced entry.

Glass options and accessories

VELFAC offers a range of glazing options to customise window performance, including a selection of opaque designs for added privacy and security. VELFAC-designed handles, hinges, restrictors and other accessories are also available.

Frame finishes

The standard VELFAC composite frame features polyester-powder coated external aluminium and painted or lacquered internal timber. The frame can be finished in different colours inside and out in any of the full range of RAL colours, or in a granite or anodised coating (aluminium only). VELFAC all-timber frames can be finished in a choice of RAL colour or clear lacquer; timber frame components are primed and surface treated before assembly to ensure optimum protection of open ends and joints. All frame assemblies and cross-cut ends of timber are sealed to prevent moisture penetration.

Warranties

VELFAC offers a 12-year comprehensive product warranty on all VELFAC 200 windows, and 10 years on all VELFAC Ribo and VELFAC Classic windows. All casement, sliding, and external doors come with a 5-year warranty.
