Our very own Solarlux Wintergarden within our showroom with both Highline & Ecoline bi-fold doors on show.

double glazing melksham

At our Corsham showroom, we have designed a full sized Solarlux Wintergarden. A complete, real-world example of what this premium glazed extension system can offer in your home.

The Solarlux SDK Akzent Plus Wintergarden is the more premium of the two models available in our range. Both products are designed to be used all year round, and can be an excellent glass alternative to a traditionally built extension. Our model demonstrates the structural quality, design flexibility, and thermal performance Solarlux is known for globally.

The structure follows a classic lean-to design, powder coated in a contemporary grey finish that suits both modern and traditional homes. The main roof elevation is fitted with integrated Solarlux shading, a feature that highlights just one of the many optional accessories available. This external blind system helps regulate heat and light, making the space more usable on warmer days and showcasing how the Wintergarden can adapt to real-life conditions.

This isn’t a lightweight conservatory or basic sunroom. It’s a highly engineered extension built to perform—comfortable in winter, ventilated in summer, and visually striking in every season. Above all, it is built to last and increases the living space in your home.

A unique Solarlux Wintergarden with bifold doors

Our Wintergarden glazed extension also provides To give a complete view of the Solarlux bifold offering, this showroom Wintergarden includes two different door systems. The main glazed elevation features the Solarlux Ecoline bifold door, while the return is fitted with the Solarlux Highline bifold. This combination allows you to see both systems side by side and understand the differences in specification and performance.

Both Ecoline and Highline are built around Solarlux’s signature slim 99mm sightline, one of the slimmest bifolds in the UK presently.

Solarlux Ecoline is designed for double glazing, delivering U-values from around 1.3 W/m²K, and supports panel heights up to 3.0m. Solarlux Highline, by comparison, is the triple-glazed alternative, capable of U-values as low as 0.8 W/m²K and maximum panel heights up to 3.5m. These two systems offer solutions for a wide range of projects—from general domestic use through to highly insulated or architect-led designs requiring larger spans and more demanding performance.

A bifold door that folds to the left and the right

What makes the Ecoline door especially unique is its bidirectional opening capability—a unique feature in bifold doors. When specified with an even number of panels, the entire system can slide and stack either to the left or to the right. This bi-directional opening gives you more control over how the space is used, particularly on days when ventilation, sun, or wind direction need to be considered. It’s a practical feature that reflects Solarlux’s focus on usability as well as design. This is just one of many unique features you only get with a Solarlux bifold, which is why they’re widely considered the best bifolds on the market. After all, Solarlux did invent the modern bifold more than forty years ago.

Great reasons to consider a Solarlux Wintergarden for your home

Everything about our Corsham showroom’s Wintergarden is built to reflect how these fully bespoke systems in virtually any size or shape and roof desgign work in a real home. You’ll see how the doors sit within the structure, how drainage and thresholds are managed, and how the shading integrates with the roof profile. Sliding doors, windows, single or double doors can also be integrated within the structure.

The aluminium framework is thermally broken and engineered for structural reliability, allowing the space to remain comfortable in all weather conditions, without the overheating or poor insulation commonly found in older glazed extensions. Importantly it’s designed to resist the most severe weather and heavy snow loads as well. Solarlux also offers a host of options and personalisation such as heating and cooling, lighting in the roof bars and shading to keep you cool in summer.

If you are considering a high-quality garden room, an architects specifying for one-off builds, or a developer working on premium extensions, the Corsham showroom offers a chance to experience a Solarlux Wintergarden up close. You can open the doors, examine the finishes, and understand how the system performs and functions, at full sizes and ready to try out.
