This installation features a pair of bespoke RK Steel internal door systems supplied and fitted by CBP to a contemporary home in Sherston, Wiltshire. The project combines a hinged steel door with side panel and a bi-parting sliding system—both specified in RAL 9005 Black with 20mm glazing bars.
Designed to divide key living spaces while preserving flow and light, the result is a clean, modern interior layout that reflects the thinnest sightlines, precision and elegance possible only with steel internal doors.
Hinged Door and Side Panel with Threshold-Free Detailing
The hinged door and side panel sit between two stylish reception rooms. Installed without a threshold, the design allows the engineered wood floor to meet the stone slabs in the room at the other side of the doors seamlessly. This preserves the integrity of both finishes and ensuring going from room to room is smooth with no step-over.
Two horizontal glazing bars line through across the door and side panel, giving the set symmetry, proportion and a sense of balance that works particularly well in modern interiors. The result is a clear visual division of space without compromising openness or light transmission.
With steel construction, the handle backplate appears to float within the glazed aperture—another example of the minimalist detailing that defines this system. Safety glass is used throughout the installation for peace of mind and everyday durability.
Bi-Parting Sliding Doors for Flexible Living
In a separate part of the home, we installed RK Steel bi-parting sliding doors between the dining and reception areas. These allow the spaces to be fully opened or divided as needed, maintaining flexibility without adding visual bulk.
As with the hinged set, the sliding doors have no threshold, allowing the floors to run smoothly between rooms. The slim steel frame is key to the visual lightness and refined appearance—something that simply isn’t achievable with other materials. It’s a detail that adds practical value and understated luxury.
The slim horizontal astragal bars align across both sliding panels, maintaining the same design language throughout the home. Opening the doors is effortless with minimalist black colour-matched pull handles.
