The design required slim aluminium profiles, reliable operation, and a glazing system capable of delivering wide opening spans with clean internal and external lines.
The Schüco system was selected for its proven engineering, premium hardware and the flexibility it provides when working with modern extensions and open-plan layouts.
Contemporary Schüco Bifold Doors – the finest in engineering and design.

The AS FD 75 is the slimmest residential bifold in the Schüco range, with sightlines of 90mm at the meeting stile, or 104mm where additional strength is required. This allows for significantly larger glass areas than most folding doors on the market, improving natural light levels and reducing visible aluminium in your home.
At the same time, the contrasting Schüco hardware and premium German locking system are key parts of the overall design approach, giving dependable security and smooth day-to-day operation. The only way for you to truly appreciate why these doors slide and fold so well is to visit our showroom and try them out. Often people have decided on a brand, yet as soon as they operate a Schuco, the quality in design and engineering is immediately obvious. Even better, you can feel it.
For this extension, the bifold doors were installed beneath a large gable frame, creating a full-height glazed elevation with uninterrupted views to the garden. Of course with bifolds in this design a steel is required so the head of the bifolds gets the most secure fixing.
To both the intermediate steel and the corner meeting the two panel set, we provided colour matched insulated aluminium pressings to cover the structure. The result is neat looking corner bifold design where all the primary components match effortlessly. These Wiltshire bifolds integrate cleanly with the surrounding fixed glazing and the dark grey external finish provides a consistent appearance across the rear of the property.
The benefits of Schüco bifold doors in your home.

The Schüco bifold is regarded as one of the best and with good reason. Precision engineering, the best in German design, ultra premium locks, handles and components. All these combined with luxury grade aluminium, deep thermal insulation and high specification units.
The result is a bifold that looks and feels like no other on the market. And now with some of the thinnest dimensions of any UK bifold. And even with this slim size, panel widths of up to 1.5m and heights up to 3.5m, the AS FD 75 offers greater design freedom than most bifold products. The only other equally capable bifold is our Solarlux Collection. Both of these allow , allowing wider openings with fewer panels and a more balanced look from both inside and out. All profiles are flat and minimal, with fewer visible joints and cleaner transitions between vertical and horizontal sections compared with earlier Schüco designs.
Schuco bifolds also provide complete flexibility at the threshold with three sill options, including low and flush solutions, and two weathered versions for external use.
For excellent insulation and low U-Values, these doors accept either 28mm safety glass units, up to an impressive 50mm triple glazing. If you want the best possible thermal performance, consider an uptrade to the AS FD 90.HI with incredible energy saving and comfort.
