At CBP, we’re known for installing high-specification windows and doors from the UK and Europe’s best glazing brands. Trickle vents are required in both replacement and new build installations and often these required an additional profile on the head of most aluminium and upvc windows which means a bulkier sightline at the head. There is an alternative to trickle vents in windows and doors in the form of mechanical ventilation and extraction systems. These may be a better alternative for your project as we explain in this article.
Mechanical Ventilation in your home. An alternative with trickle vents in windows and doors.

It is often thought that to meet the requirements of Part F of Buildling Regulations, trickle vents must be fitted to windows and doors. This is not the case as there are other acceptable forms of ventilation. Mechanical Ventilation is one such option.
We have introduced Venti Mechanical Ventilation to accompany our range of premium aluminium windows and doors, and as an excellent alternative to trickle vents. The truth is, some people don’t like the appearance of trickle vents and how they can add up to 45mm to the head of most aluminium and upvc windows and doors.
As the minimal sliding door is now so popular in home renovations and new extensions, many of our customers want sleeker and slimmer sightlines with the investment they make in highly insulated windows and doors, often with triple glazing, minimal frames, and premium finishes. All these windows and doors need to comply with Building Regulations for Ventilation, but mechanical ventilation could provide a way to comply as well.
For projects where design, performance, and compliance all matter, we offer you the Venti product. This is a discreet mechanical solution that works as a reliable alternative to traditional trickle vents in windows and doors.
Why Trickle Vents Might Not Suit All Types of Premium Glazing
Trickle vents are common in standard glazing installations, but aesthetically they do add bulk. This is the trade-off for Building Regulations Compliance.
On modern, airtight glazing systems, especially aluminium and timber-aluminium products, traditional trickle vents might also not be suitable. This is especially the case where our customers are building a low-energy home or Passivhaus.
Whilst a mechanical ventialtion solution will cost you more in most cases, the benefits are slim and clear window and door frames. Alternatively you could consider or Rationel and Velfac range of windows and doors that are brilliantly designed to more discreet trickle vents at the sides of the windows and doors with no additional bulk

Mechanical Ventilation Systems Meet Building Regulations.
When you visit our Showroom in Corsham, we can show you a model of the Venti product. Venti is a compact, through-wall mechanical ventilation system that delivers a regulated flow of fresh air into the room without compromising design, comfort, or compliance. Unlike trickle vents, Venti isn’t built into the window. Instead, it’s installed independently. Either during your new build or as a retrofitted product.
Key Benefits:
• Compliant with Part F ventilation regulations
• Recovers up to 82% of internal heat via heat exchange
• Quiet operation, starting from just 10 dB
• Keeps insects out with integrated filters
• Energy efficient, typically under £5 per year to run
• Minimal internal and external visual impact
• 10-year warranty from the manufacturer
This makes Venti one of the most effective alternatives to trickle vents in windows and doors, particularly in homes where visual quality and performance are a priority.
Mechanical Ventilation systems can be fitted in any room in your home. Each one is installed, wired and commissioned by professional installers (not CBP). There is also a choice of materials to ensure a match the wall finish internally and externally to ensure the result is both functional and discreet.
